🛸 Naujosios UMI Kalnas rezidentės - Eva Rodz ir Margarita Valionytė, „Animatest“ edukacinės iniciatyvos dalyvės.
Animatest – kol kas vienintelė Lietuvoje artist collective pobūdžio edukacinė iniciatyva, puoselėjanti animacijos meną, ugdanti naujos kartos animatorių įgūdžius ir skleidžianti animacijos kultūrą visoje šalyje. Iniciatyvos įkūrėja Eva Rodz kartu su komanda: Margarita Valionytė, Ingrid Beata Savicka, Margaret Plėpis organizuoja animacijos kursus, dirbtuves ir renginius, taip pat kuria animaciją, atributiką bei leidinius. Nuo 2022 m. įgyvendintos įvairaus tipo veiklos nuo edukacijų iki projektų, skatinančių kūrybiškumą per kritinį mąstymą ir praktinę patirtį. Mūsų tikslas yra parodyti, kad animacija nėra tik medija vaikams, o tarpdisciplininis įrankis, kurį gali naudoti kiekvienas.

EVA RODZ – menininkė, animacijos režisierė ir edukacinės iniciatyvos „Animatest“ įkūrėja bei vadovė. 2023 m. baigė animacijos bakalauro studijas Vilniaus dailės akademija. Kūryboje nagrinėja smurto lyties pagrindu temas bei animacijos taikymą šiuolaikiniame mene ir edukacijoje. 2022 m. sukūrė debiutinį animacinį filmą „Aš pavargau“, pristatytą BLON animacijos ir vaizdo žaidimų festivalyje, kur jis pelnė pagrindinį prizą lietuvių kūrėjų programoje. Šiuo metu Eva vadovauja „Animatest“, veda animacijos edukacijas, dirba vyr. edukatore Radvilų rūmų dailės muziejuje bei tęsia autorinę animacijos kūrybą, projektus rinkdamasi itin selektyviai.
MARGARITA VALIONYTĖ - animatorė, menininkė ir edukatorė. 2023 m. baigė Vilniaus Dailės Akademijoje animacijos krypties bakalaurą, kur nuo 2023 metų dirba animacijos laboratorijoje. Nuo 2022 m. edukuoja bei koordinuoja studentus „Animatest“. 2021 m. BLON festivalyje debiutavo jos trumpo metro filmas „Eš“, o 2026 m. pasirodys magistro studijose kuriamas filmas „Tinkinta". Menininkės domėjimosi laukas apima pereinamasias erdves ir būsenas, šeimyninės atminties ir tapatybės transformacijas politinių režimų kaitoje, kūryboje vyrauja atminties daiktų rekontekstualizavimas ir interaktyvumas. Margarita dalyvauja šiuolaikinio meno lauke, pristatydama savo kūrybą grupinėse parodose, tarp jų VDA Fotografijos, animacijos ir medijų meno katedros 25-mečiui paminėti skirtoje parodoje „Mediaramos", Radvilų rūmų dailės muziejus parodoje „(Ne)saugumo ribos".

🛸 The new UMI Kalnas residents are Eva Rodz and Margarita Valionytė, participants of the educational initiative “Animatest”.
Animatest is currently the only artist collective-style educational initiative in Lithuania dedicated to nurturing the art of animation, developing the skills of a new generation of animators, and promoting animation culture throughout the country.
Founded by Eva Rodz, together with team members Margarita Valionytė, Ingrid Beata Savicka, and Margaret Plėpis, the initiative organizes animation courses, workshops, and events, while also producing animated works, merchandise, and publications. Since 2022, “Animatest” has carried out a wide range of activities, from educational programs to projects that encourage creativity through critical thinking and hands-on experience. Our goal is to demonstrate that animation is not merely a medium for children, but an interdisciplinary tool that can be used by everyone.

EVA RODZ is an artist, animation director, and founder and director of the educational initiative “Animatest.” In 2023, she completed a BA in Animation at the Vilniaus dailės akademija. Her artistic practice explores themes of gender-based violence and the application of animation in contemporary art and education. In 2022, she created her debut animated film I’m Tired (Aš pavargau), which was presented at the BLON Animation and Games Festival and received the main award in the Lithuanian Creators Programme. Currently, Eva leads “Animatest,” conducts animation workshops, works as Senior Educator at the Radvila Palace Museum of Art, and continues her authorial animation practice, selecting projects with great care and intention.
MARGARITA VALIONYTĖ is an animator, artist, and educator. In 2023, she graduated with a BA in Animation from the Vilnius Academy of Arts, where she has been working in the Animation Laboratory since the same year. Since 2022, she has been teaching and coordinating students at “Animatest.” Her short film Eš premiered at the BLON Festival in 2021, and her master's degree film Tinkinta is scheduled for release in 2026. Margarita’s research interests focus on transitional spaces and states, transformations of family memory and identity under changing political regimes, and the recontextualization of memory objects through interactive artistic practices. She actively participates in the contemporary art field, presenting her work in group exhibitions, including Mediaramos, dedicated to the 25th anniversary of the Department of Photography, Animation and Media Art at the Vilnius Academy of Arts, and (In)Security Boundaries at the Radvila Palace Museum of Art of the Lithuanian National Museum of Art.
